Q. How do the classes work?
A. Each class is broken down into lessons, and one lesson is delivered each day via email. Simply click the link in the email, sign in to your account, and you’ll see a video, resources and a task. The videos are between 2 and 15 minutes in length, depending on the subject matter and the complexity. We suggest that you try and take the lessons as they’re delivered – 1 per day – but if you get behind, or you’re out of town, or want to go at your own pace, it’s no problem. At the bottom of each lesson is an index of every lesson in that module, so you can skip around, move ahead or re-take any lesson, without waiting on the email. It’s totally up to you. In addition to the lessons, you’ll also have access to our popular forum, where students ask and answer questions, chat about their tech challenges and successes and post the answers to some of the tasks.
Q. What are study halls (formerly weekly conference calls)?
A. If you need a little coaching or assistance, our instructors are here to help! Simply use the Tungle link to the right to find a block of 15 minutes and make an appointment. Your instructor will call you at the appointed time either on the phone or via SKYPE, a free service which also allows video chat and desktop sharing.
Q. How many classes can I take at one time?
A. That’s completely up to you. We have a three-class subscription pass with discounted pricing. Classes can be accessed for up to six months after the signup date so that you have plenty of time to absorb the material and get the help you need.
Q. What if I miss a class?
A. The classes are short enough that you should be able to catch up quickly – and you have access for up to six months for your signup date, too.
Q. How many people from my office can take the classes?
A. Only one login will be assigned for each course, and we hope that you’ll be considerate and not share them freely. If you’d like to discuss options for multiple students, let us know. We can customize a learning center for groups of students at discounted rates.
Q. How does the payment work?
A. Our system uses Paypal to insure access is only valid for paid subscriptions. If your payment is declined, our system will suspend access until the payment is received. Please call our office with any questions or situations – we really are here to help.
Q. Can I download the videos?
A. The videos are delivered via streaming flash, just like YouTube, so you’ll need to be logged into the system with Internet access to view them. We currently don’t have them available via download or DVD.
Q. How do the coaching calls work?
A. Our coaching calls are now 15-minute on-demand increments of time that you can schedule via Tungle. Visit http://tungle.me/geekschool to schedule your appointment, or see the question above.
Q. Can I start anytime?
A. Yes! During your signup you’ll choose a start date for each class and you’ll receive an email on your start date and every day for the duration of the class. If you decide to take a weekend break, the lessons will be in your inbox when you’re ready for them – or you can skip the emails and just use the handy index at the bottom of each email to take the courses at your own pace.
Q. Can I hire you to come onsite and teach my group?
A. Absolutely! We’ve taught at many industry events, including ASTA World Congress, AAA National Conference, TRAMS Tech-U, Signature Owner’s Meeting, Vacation.com Webinars, MAST Conferences, ASTA Regional Meetings, and the Travel Institute National Forum. We would love to discuss your meeting, webinar or event. Email Chelle Yarbrough for more details and booking information.
